Is Your Online Marketing System Ready for Holiday Marketing Traffic?

Online Holiday Marketing Tips

Over the years, working with dozens of business owners, I’ve seen the exact same scenario play out every single Q4: They wait until it’s far too late to start thinking about their holiday marketing plan. They scramble during the final days before their big holiday push, launch whatever assets they managed to pull together at the last minute, and then… they hope for the best.

Here is the truth: Hope is not a strategy.

When holiday traffic hits your digital presence, hoping your website, marketing, links, forms, and customer journey all work together is an expensive risk. Instead of leaving your revenue to chance, you need to zero in on your Bullseye.

The Bullseye Principle: It All Starts With Your Website

When preparing for Q4, it’s easy to get distracted trying to optimize every shiny new channel. But your primary focus should start with your website.

Your website is the digital asset you have the most ownership and control over. It is where your promotional campaigns, organic content, social links, email marketing, advertising, and targeted landing pages should ultimately lead.

Think of it as your Bullseye.

Social media is part of the system—but it shouldn’t become the center of it.

It’s easy to fall into the habit of treating Instagram, Facebook, or another social platform as your business hub because that’s where you post most often. But those platforms are channels you use to reach people. Your website is the place you control.

Think of your website as the center of the bullseye, with Google, social media, email, referrals, advertising and other channels working around it to bring people back to your own digital home.

The goal isn’t to stop using social media. The goal is to make sure the attention you’re creating there has somewhere useful to go.

If visitors arrive and your site fails to clearly guide them toward the next step, you risk losing the time, money, and effort you invested in bringing them there. Before you focus on driving more holiday traffic, make sure the destination is ready for it.

The 5 Operational Checks Every Owner Must Run Before Holiday Marketing

Before launching your seasonal campaigns across Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the year-end holidays, take a step back and run through these five hands-on checks yourself. Do not delegate trust or assume everything works simply because it worked last season.

1. Test Desktop vs. Mobile Side-by-Side

More than half of your holiday visitors will arrive on a smartphone. Open your website on your actual phone—not just your desktop browser. Is your primary offer immediately visible without scrolling? Do buttons overlap? Is the mobile navigation clean, or does it feel cluttered? Make sure the mobile experience is intentionally adjusted, not just squeezed onto a smaller screen. Another tip, look at your website on both iOS and Android phones – there will likely be differences.

2. Verify Your Customer Info Capture Systems

When a customer fills out a contact form, signs up for a seasonal discount, or registers for an event, where does that information go? Ensure your lead forms, booking engines, and checkout systems automatically pass your customer’s data directly into your CRM or email platform. If you are manually copy-pasting customer data during peak season, your system is leaking revenue.

3. Count the Clicks to Convert

Put yourself in a brand-new customer’s shoes and count the physical taps it takes from landing on your site to completing a purchase, booking an appointment, or finding critical information. Every unnecessary click, broken link, or confusing redirect creates friction—and friction causes potential buyers to leave.

Your Website Doesn’t Have to Be Broken to Be Losing You Business

One of the most common problems I see isn’t a broken website. It’s a website that has simply been left behind. The business is active on social media. They’re posting. They’re getting attention. But the website hasn’t received that same attention in years.

The site may technically work—but does it make sense to someone who has never visited it before? Can I tell immediately what you do? Can I find what I need? Do I know where to go next? Does the site make me trust the business? Can I easily contact you? What happens if I’m interested but I’m not ready to buy today?

These aren’t backend technical questions. They’re user-experience questions. And they’re exactly the kinds of things I look for during a live website review.

4. Run the “Owner Self-Test”

Never assume your tech works just because it looks right. Submit a real test inquiry, sign up with a test email address, and place a live order on your own site today. Set up a coupon or discount to run the test with and see it in action. Experience the exact confirmation screens, automated receipts, and follow-up emails your customers receive. Verify that your system projects authority, clarity, and trust from the very first interaction. And if there is a problem during the process, consider the options for your customers if they had problems. Will there be a phone number, email address, and FAQs page?

5. Align Social Platforms & Drive Traffic to Your Own Website

Audit your Instagram bio, Facebook page, Google Business Profile, and email signatures. Ensure every external link, promotion, and social ad drives traffic directly back to your primary domain—your owned asset—rather than fragmented third-party landing pages. Keep all social platforms updated and connected so every path leads back to your central ecosystem.

Need a Second Set of Eyes Before Your Holiday Push?

If reading through this list has you wondering whether everything is actually connected and working the way it should, that’s exactly why I created a focused, one-time Q4 offering:

The Q4 Digital Ecosystem Live Audit

In one focused 60-minute session, you get something that’s difficult to do for yourself: a professional set of eyes on your website.

We start with your business goals and then look at your website the way a potential customer, client, patient, member or visitor would experience it. This isn’t a code-level or backend technical audit. I’m looking at the front end: your messaging, copy, images, visual hierarchy, navigation, calls to action, mobile experience and the overall user journey.

I’ll tell you what I understand, what I don’t understand, where I get stuck, what feels unnecessary or confusing, and what I’d address first.

You’ll leave with practical things you can actually do to improve the website you already have.

Here’s How We Spend Our 60 Minutes Together:

  • Your Q4 Goals: We start by defining your exact targets, offers, and priority revenue streams for the coming season.
  • Your Website (The Bullseye): We review the pages and landing points most important to those goals, looking at your messaging, visitor path, and ability to move people toward action.
  • Connections To & From Your Site: We examine the important entry and exit points—how customers arrive at your website, how search engines and AI models perceive your business, and what happens after visitors take action.

What You’ll Receive:

  • 1-on-1 Live Strategy Session: A working session focused on your exact business and priorities, with real-time screen sharing.
  • Your Complete Session Transcript: You’ll have the transcript from our conversation so you can revisit the recommendations, share them with your team or web person, and use it as your working list for making updates.
  • Your Website Priority List: You’ll leave with a practical, prioritized list of the things I’d address first based on what I see during our session. Most websites have at least five opportunities to improve the user experience, but I’m not going to manufacture a list just to hit a number. I’ll tell you what actually matters for your website and your goals.
  • The Baker’s Dozen DIY Digital Ecosystem Audit: You’ll receive my 13-point DIY reference guide to help you continue monitoring technical, structural, and connection points within your ecosystem.

One-Time Q4 Pricing:
Regular Value: $500
Holiday Special: $297

This focused session gives you absolute clarity on what needs attention and a strategic priority list for moving forward before your seasonal traffic arrives. What Happens After the Audit?

That is completely up to you based on your time and internal resources:

  • Option A: Do It Yourself
Take your transcript, Priority Update List, and Baker’s Dozen DIY Guide to work through the fixes yourself or hand them to your internal team. You don’t have to hire me to implement anything I recommend. The information is yours to use.
  • Option B: Get Help With Implementation & Strategy
If you’d like support executing the fixes, we can discuss whether a fixed-scope Campaign Sprint or an ongoing Strategic Advisory Retainer is the right fit for your organization.

The Retainer & Sprint Credit Guarantee:
When you enroll in a Campaign Sprint or Strategic Retainer following your audit, 100% of your $297 audit fee will be applied directly toward your invoice.

Stop Hoping. Start Preparing.

Don’t wait until peak traffic hits to discover that a form isn’t working, a checkout link is broken, or your mobile experience is turning buyers away. Take an hour now to look at the bigger picture. Find the gaps. Prioritize what matters. Then decide how you want to move forward.

A Professional Second Set of Eyes👀

I’m Colleen Nelson, owner of The Ultimate Answer, and I’ve been helping small businesses navigate websites, online marketing and technology for more than 25 years.

I bring a Master’s Degree in Communication with a concentration in Information and Business Decision-Making Science, but you don’t need a communications degree to know whether your website is working for your customers.

You need someone willing to look at it honestly.

That’s what I do.

During a live website review, I look at your site from the front end—from the perspective of a customer, client, patient or visitor who doesn’t already know your business. I’ll point out what I understand, what I don’t, where I get stuck and what I’d fix first.

You get my experience. You get the conversation. You get the priorities. And you get to decide what you do with them.
